This is the first of the paintings I’m doing for a series that’s focused on illustrating moments from my favorite stories! It’s my own take on the Cockatrice fight from Witcher 3. I came up with my own design for the monster, and location. I also documented the stages of this project better than I usually do!
I traced my sketch onto a panel using carbon paper.
I used a combination of Ink and Black colored pencil to figure out my values.
Pretty much done with the values.
I used thin acrylic washes to block in the areas, and mixed media to work on the details.
Pretty much done. I might go back later and add some rendering but this is pretty much what I was aiming for! I'm happy with the result.
